Apparently to most people this game getting a 9 is like the apocalypse, it's not suppose to be this way to most people. This site suggests LBP and KZ2 are God's gift to gaming while I don't believe in the score system at all. Different strokes for different people, some people might like Coke others might like Pepsi. Me personally, I'm a Pepsi man.
A 9 is far from bad. Army of Two, I think deserved a 8.0 from most sites, it was a really good game marred by some camera and campaig...
This is why the rating system is so flawed. I mean GTA IV was fun while it lasted, but everyone got the replayability ratings wrong. A 10 for replayability on GTA IV? Even then, if one game is a 10 and the other is a 8.0, the lower marked one can be all around better game when it comes to preference.

Look in any Killzone 2 news page and look how many disagrees for one negative thing about it and 49 disagrees will be there.
These hardly move gaming forward. LBP however, is a different story. This game drives User generated content to a whole new level.

TBH, GOTY will go to LBP, Fallout 3 or GeoW2, just because they're the hottest things out there in gaming. MGS4 was not that groundbreaking like you say, sure it's storyline is amazing, but it's the same gameplay from MGS3 and Splinter Cell practically. I'm not hating on MGS4, I'm just saying it's not as groundbreaking as you think it is.
Infinite replayability for costumes and more extras in MGS4? I don't think so, I've played MGS4 on my PS3 and well I thought the game was breat...
That's not a bad thing, Gears of War is still one of the best looking games out there. The updates in graphics are pretty subtle, I think they mostly optimized the engine to have smaller details like foliage and grime, all those small details. They also optimized it so there can be hundreds of enemies on the screen at once which I think pretty damn impressive.
What were expecting in terms of a graphics jump? Honestly, just another reason to hate.

Pretty much, the guy is a pretty legendary developer. His stuff was pretty innovative with minor flaws in almost all his games, probably from all the hype he made but now he seems a lot more humble.
TBH, I really enjoyed Fable: Lost Chapters more than most RPGs like the Final Fantasy games. Don't kill me now, but I found Fable to be more deep with the moral choices and the customization of your character. Final Fantasy? Not too much. I liked FF7 with the exception of the running around in the train yard. Took me almost an hour and a half to figure a way out of the 2D environment.

GAMETRAILERS - Resistance got 9.0 and Gears got a 9.1 from these guys.
IGN - Resistance got a 9.1 and Gears got 9.4 from them.

I understand where you're coming from bro, I played MGS1 when I was 8 when I got a hand-me down PSX. Boy was I ecstatic about MGS2 when I heard about it, I bought a used PS2 to play it.
